Hotel Pools

Swimming pools and spa pools provide great opportunities for hotel and motel guests to relax. Unfortunately pools can also be dangerous places where injuries, that can ruin a holiday, and drownings, that can end a life, occur.

In 2003 more than 4,000 people were seriously injured in and around New Zealand swimming pools.

Pools are meant to be fun. By making your facility as safe as possible and ensuring that the behaviour of those using it is appropriate, your pool can remain a feature of the service provided to your guests.

ACC and Water Safety New Zealand have developed a Be PoolSafe Correct Pool Behaviour Sign with essential information to assist you to provide not only a  facility that you can be proud of but one, where your guests can make positive decisions and remember their experiences fondly.

Also available to Hotel/Motel owners/managers is the Swimming Pools Reference Tool developed in 2004.  This provides informative and valuable information on Risk Management, Water Quality, Supervision and Signage .
